Photographer's Note
Hagia Sofia is one of the architectural marvels to see in Istanbul. When we visited it, it was undergoing restoration and it was difficult to take some pictures inside because of the dim light. An anecdote: we were there at the same time as the players of the Greek Panatinaikos while they visited this temple (they were to play a soccer match against one of the Turkish teams later that day or the day after).
"Hagia Sophia, (the Church of) Holy Wisdom, now known as the Ayasofya Museum, is a former Eastern Orthodox church converted to a mosque in 1453 by the Turks, and converted into a museum in 1935. It is located in Istanbul, Turkey. It is traditionally considered one of the great buildings in history. Its conquest by the Ottomans at the fall of Constantinople is considered one of the great tragedies of Christianity by the Greek Orthodox faithful.
The name comes from the Greek name Ἁγία Σοφία, a contraction of Ναός τῆς Ἁγίας τοῦ Θεοῦ Σοφίας, meaning "Church of the Holy Wisdom of God". It is also known as Sancta Sophia in Latin and Ayasofya in Turkish. Although it is sometimes called "Saint Sophia" in English, it is not named for a saint named Sophia - the Greek word sofia means "wisdom."

As far as I recall, I increased contrast, sharpened and added the frame.

Hello Yvonne,
very nicely captured shot to this well known building. Very good light control, perfect sharpness and well visible details. Nicely composed with the plants in the fg. Tfs and best wishes for the upcoming new year!

Holà Yvonne,
A splendid picture of the iconic monument: I was starting to get angry think that you had taken it recently and then I found out that you were here 4 years ago. Angry because I would expect you to let me know about your presence.
Happy new Year and best wishes - Izzet

Hola Yvonne,
Bien hecha.
Te deseo un feliz Año Nuevo.
Josep
