Hello Everyone

This photo is fresh from my three night canoe trip to the Algonquin Park this weekend. For those of you who were worried about me, I want to assure that I made it back in one piece :D.

It was fabulous trip, canoeing by day in the lakes and rivers and camping in the night in that wilderness. It was the best Canoe trip ever, Thanks Dave. I cannot find any words that would do justice to my feelings and experieces from this trip, about how overwhelmed I was by nature and wilderness and the way indigenous people used to live in this part of the world before they were wiped off or moved to other places by the imposition of western lifestyle and values on them.

It was fascinating to be in this land. I camped on islands where there were no humans but lots of wild life. I saw/heard the callilng of Canadian Loon, the Beavers making dams, Herons, Pelicans, bull frogs, Moose, Deers, water lilies, ... and soo much more.

During the past four days, I tried to live the way voyageours (firstt explorers) used to live, I travelled the way they did ( i.e. in a canoe). During this process I inculcated great respect for those people. I along with my friend paddled something like 6 hours a day + 3-4 hours of portage in the tough stretches. Voyageours used to paddle for 12 hours a day, but at a much faster pace.

This is something I would recommend to all Canadians: A taste of the lifestyle that was wiped off from this country in order to make way for the so called development of this nation.
