ROM Interior
Time to enter the Royal Ontario Museum.
The Royal Ontario Museum is a museum of art, world culture and natural history in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is the largest museum in Canada.
Upon entering the large atrium you immediately notice the large collection of prehistoric skeletons, but there are also exhibitions in a variety of topics.
During our visit:
• Spiders: Fear & Fascination
• Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion
• Philip Beesley: Transforming Space.
Very different exhibitions so that there is something interesting to see for everyone. It is not without reason that the museum attracts more than one million spectators a year.
Photographing the interior of the Crystal Expansion of the museum is not as simple as photographing the exterior.
It is harder to distance yourself, the lighting conditions are much more difficult and there are art- or natural history objects in the way.
With three photos I try to show the spatial appearance of the retracted prisms.
Unfortunately I could not find the names of the prehistoric species in the photos.

Hello Rob,
After seeing these photos my suspicions remain that the interior (at least parts of it) could cause seasickness. The angles between walls and ceilings are as irregular as could be expected. I understand the difficulties in taking "straight" photos. In the main picture I have to look at the building across the street for a confirmation that the photo is not tilted. The stairwell photo looks like the laws of gravity have been cancelled. Why doesn't the lady in red fall down? ;-) Only the Stegosaurus looks "normal".
Great fun!
Cheers,
Gert

Your reportage shows that the museum is very interesting, not only the architecture but also these exhibitions, a very nice series of photos

Hallo Rob,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Rob,
The suspended skeletons are impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the uspended fish. The surrounding light has a good effect on the colours. Have a nice day.

Hallo Rob,

Hi Rob
I feel its not easy to find this sort of productive shooting angle with good sense of 3D and spacious within this limited frame! I love the subtle tones, soft colours and just enough contrast without compromising that bit of exterior element. Attention is still on the remains of an alien from outer space!! Or a demon from the depths of hell itself! He He...
Anyway, they look vaguely pre-historic in my eye, you have done this one brilliantly, in particular the shapes and detail. Above all your exposure is seamless. Superb interior shot, very cool stuff, Congrats.
Best regards

Hello Rob,
Were there times when you felt as if you had drunk a little too much alcohol!
What an exciting building to enjoy, before you even look at the exhibits.
I know so many people who would love to stand and study the prehistoric fossils! My granddaughter is a prime example, she is consumed with such creatures, at the moment. The subject of prehistoric animals grabs the attention of youngsters; I remember my son digging a large hole in our garden, convinced he would find the bones of a huge dinosaur!
I love the contrasts in the light, the flying reptiles appearing like shadow puppets.
The stairwell is just so very difficult to comprehend!!!
You must have loved it here!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Dag Rob,
U heeft hier een mooie hoek gekozen voor deze foto.
Het licht op de achtergrond maakt alles mooi helder.
Mooi contrast mat de zwarte kustwerken binnen.
Goed foto werk, bednkt.
Prettige dag verder,
John.

Hallo Rob, the picture gives a glimpse to the museum interior and its architectural details. Fascinating prehistoric skeletons are suspended to the ceiling. The two reconstitutions represent a large fish and a ray skeletons. Good image quality, instructive photo note, regards.

Hello Rob,
Impeccable sharpness and almost a monochrome b&w shot. The skeleton at right resembles a modern turtle. I have no idea what kind of deep sea fish this might be. Perhaps a deep sea angler fish that uses a light on the end of its mouth full of razor sharp teeth, or a distant relative. The stegosaurus bones and stairwell make good workshops. Did you know that southern Alberta used to be SOUTH of the equator! Similar to the Amazon today. Hence so many large plant and meat eating dinosaurs. But over 100's of millions of years it has drifted north of the 49th parallel. Drumheller Dinosaur Museum is well worth seeing as a daytrip from Calgary. Tfs!

Hi Rob
I had to take a closer look here, as i'm a HUGE fan of dinosaurs and prehistoric animals. SO many of our son's baby clothes have dinosaurs :) ANd still today, at 44 years old, i'm fascinated by them, I would love to have a time machine and travel back 66 Million years ago to see them live :) Of course, if I could ensure my safety :) Love the WS's and this main one too, I wish I knew what they were too. Sounds like a great visit! cheers

There was some harsh light indoors, but what choice did you have, Rob, the black statue of the fish placed against the outside window POV.
All three pictures give some idea about this modern museum.
My best regards,
Ike

rob
a nice contrast of these squeletons and the modernist shapes of the museum and, at same time, a nice combination between the graphic effect of these elements. very nice image and WS too.
take care
