Photographer's Note
AGO
The Art Museum of Ontario
The Art Museum of Toronto was founded in 1900 and was named Art Gallery of Toronto a hundred years ago in 1919 and has been called Art Gallery of Ontario since 1966.
Over the years, the museum has been expanded many times, of which Toronto born architectFrank Gehry's 2008 "Transformation AGO" expansion has been the most defining.
There were also proponents of a completely new museum on the waterfront, to be designed by Gehry, because an extension would not get the specific signature of Gehry. Eventually this possibility was cancelled due to the high costs and "design issues".
If a museum shows us a distorted or non-distorted representation of our world, shaped by the imagination of creative and artistic people, the façade of the AGO is a wonderful metaphor of this. Despite the frequent distortions, we recognize the reality around the museum.
When art meets architecture, powerful experiences take shape.
For the three photos of today I have chosen to zoom out again.
◄ Picture 1: ► Close up of the facade. A colourful defragmentation of the parked cars in front of the museum.
◄ Picture 2: ► Dundas Street. Here we get a better overview of the elongated facade and the reflection of the other side of the street.
◄ Picture 3: ► For these photos I used the panorama function of my camera. The curved facade is actually straight.
The best way to view the pictures is to use the links above.

Hi dear Rob
Nice your attention! Clear reflection but bended in the center makes so unique and original image as such.
The comparison and difference of the above and below is very interesting too.
All the best and have a good day! Takero

Hi Rob
Fantastic repetitive reflections in the many prism like segments of the window. God sharpness and the tilt adds dynamism. Tfs!

Hello Rob,
As usual the workshop photos step by step lead us out of the confusion the main photo may have caused us. Especially #2 shows us clearly why the lower part of the façade must have been totally irresistible. The reflections are even more exciting than in the main photo, thanks to the different angle. Through the three photos the view changes from merely reflections to showing us the street and the elegance of the entire building.
Best regards,
Gert

Art and cars. Mooie weerspiegelingsfoto, Rob. Vooral dat rode autootje zo helemaal smak-dab-in-the-middle van de foto, vind ik hier leuk.
Groetjes

Hi Rob,
The reflections on the windows are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the architecture of this section of the museum. The light is enhancing the colours. Have a nice day.

Hallo Rob,

Hello Rob, I think that this was made especially for photographers! What a gift!
All three shots give a great impression of AGO.
Your main post has all your usual trademarks, showing an intriguing view, always making us curious to know more.
The red car is an eye catcher here.
It is only on closer inspection that we see the cables that are stretched across the street.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

3 interesting pictures of the reflections in the façade of the museum. Cars in the streets are often not a favourite sight, but here you have made them look very artistic once more. Bravo. Marie-Louise.

Dag Rob,
Mooi foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit super heldere dag maar fris, 5.3°C,

Hello Rob,
You noticed this scene for its photographic possibilities and what a good job you made of recording it! I like how the vertical lines split the reflections just to prove that, though these images are sharp, they are, in fact, reflections. It begins to look like a sliding puzzle!
Your w/s help us to understand the situation of the reflections and their extent but I do like how the main shot leaves us with a few questions unanswered.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Rob
you know I always like a Lady In Red, but a Car in Red is ok too (next time find the lady haha). Fun views of the reflected cars on the exterior glass with warped subjects all over. cool! cheers

Rob, the museum facade is reflecting what is around with a distortion. However we can distinguish the cars parked next to the building and the traffic. Good observation. Fine colors, good image quality, instructive photo note, regards.

Hi Rob,
I think it is amazing that our brain is able to reconstruct the view of the street from such a distorted reflection.
The red car certainly adds a nice touch.
Great creative view of the world. Sometimes you can see a representation of how the insects see the worlds and for the bees everything is in hexagonal frames... So I suppose this shows us how the artist perceives the reality ;)
Great street scene,
M
