Photographer's Note
Canada is, traditionally, a neutral and peaceful country which intervenes in favour of peace in the world. However, the arrival of qa Conservative Prime Minister whose program and ideologies are aligned on those of George W Bush came to modify the foreign policy of our country. That was percpetible at the time of the recent conflict between Israel and Lebanon. The position of our government changed, which is not the case of that of the population.
In Montreal, a demonstration in favour of peace took place during the conflict. More than 15.000 people gathered with the Parc Lafontaine. The demonstrators required that the federal government Stephen Harper join again with the neutrality of Canada on the international scene.
I've been surprise to see this group of Jews showing its solidarity with the Libanese people while raising their flag. Much more than one political action, I saw the demonstration of a beautiful solidarity which transcend the borders and the religious ideologies.
I hesitated before publishing this photograph, but I wanted to share this beautiful gesture.

Bonsoir Vincent,
I like this shot. On the technique side, I like the contrast between the dark clotes and the red flags. A serious color, a bright and aliv color, mixed like the contrasts in the life. I like a lot your note. It's possible a surprise to see these jews men in a demonstration like this, but I think is not so strange, because I think the conflict is not between religions, but between the political utilisation of religious feelings. It's not the same. For me it's not difficult to reach the peace between religions... I think it's almost impossible the peace between the fundamentalism, political deviation of a truly religious feeling.
Anyway, thanks for your note, thank for your shot. They are, both, very goods!
Angel.

Bonjour Vincent,
I was SO upset when Canada got 'Bush lite' as a prime minister; so I'm very heartened to hear about such a strong demonstration. As usual, the media here was silent on the topic of a peace demonstration; without your very moving post, people here would never have known. It heartens me to know that the people were able to force him into neutrality. Thank you for the post. My husband's family lives in Canada and we visit often, both coasts. I'm so glad Canada is still there, holding the line against insanity.
Regards, Pat

Bon sujet documentaire. Dommage que les personnages soient de dos.
La composition simple des couleurs ajoute à l'austérité du moment.
Pourquoi as-tu hésité avant de publier la photo?
Salut,

Thank you Vincent. A touching photo. In terms of composition, I like it. You captured the three men and there seems to be some dynamics between them movement wise. As for the moment, I salut you. We need, as humans from all faiths and backgrounds to unite against war and to communicate peace. Thanks for the note. The only thing I am not sure about, sadly, whether Sir. Harper will maintain Canada's image and commitment to neutrality and peace. Supporting "seleceted targeting" and pulling out of the "Kyoto Agreement" soon as he took office makes me wonder how stable our political strategy is.
Great pic again

Tu as bien fait de poster cette image car elle montre bien que la guerre n'est finalement qu'un produit aberré de la face la plus sombre de l'être humain et bien entretenue par quelques escrocs de haut-vol.
Un bel exemple de solidarité
Bravo
