Photographer's Note
Even if, nowadays, Inuit of the Canadian Arctic do not live only any more of fishing and hunting, the catch of seals remains an activity which remains in Northern Extreme. The flesh of seal is regularly consumed and the skin used to make clothing... and then the meat of seal is quite useful to nourish the packs of dogs.
Sequence cutting-up, under the attentive eyes of the dogs which dribble of impatience!
We will have, us also, our share... which savour with the taste of an European? A meat consistency and a very strong fish savour.
Good appetite!

This is a great photo of hunting in action and a good note to go along. Did you know that in Inuit culture, one type of seal is only for the dogs and one type is only for the humans? I forget which is which - but if a guess, ringed seal for dogs, bearded seal for humans? The ringed seal are much more plentiful, I think, easier to hunt. Also the seals used for dog food can be stored for up to a year, unfrozen, kept in their skin. I've been out with a couple of mushers on a 'feeding day' and it was quite fascinating how the seal meat remains edible for dogs after such a long time!
And - classic dog expressions! You can see them salivating!

Hi Jean
This is an interesting shot showing a very different way of life. The colours and the exposure are great, and I love the expressions of the dogs.

Great shot! Like in The Jungle book of Rudyard Kipling. Ice, sledge dogs look at the seal...
Beautiful picture.
Thanks for share.

Very informative note and nice photo, like the way the preparation is shown with dogs in the back hoping to get a piece, I also like the surrounding mountains view.

The look on the dogs faces is priceless. I really didn't know what seal tasted like! Very nicely composed. It must have been quite cold!
