Cloudy Banff, a photo from Alberta, Prairies

Photographer's Note

A cloudy day in Banff, one of the most scenic towns in the magnificent Canadian Rockies. The other 2 'must visit' towns, are Jasper & Lake Louise. Even though it was cloudy, I still had a nice view of the snow capped peaks from the road. Taken with my old film camera. This looks like an expensive town house development or an exclusive estate in the fg. Added a little saturation, dodged the shadows, & burned the highlights.

Hello Chris ,
Like the effect of the light , both the grey cloudy sky : it looks like a painting . Also because this is an excellent composition , from this welle chosen POV between the pine trees .

Hello Chris,

I am longing to visit this beautiful part of Canada and your image is very inviting. You have very nicely combined the nature with the architecture. The beautiful condos in the foreground amidst the green lush are nice contrast to the snow clad peaks. The sky looks white with the clouds. The image is very picturesque with beautiful colors.

From the thumbnails, I thought of a painting when looking at this view! For sure it's a beautiful place to live, among the fir trees and with such lovely mountains; The luminosity together with the grey sky added lot's of character to this image.

hi chris,
this is a fantastic scene. your high viewpoint really has been an advantage here looking above the roof tops and also on towards the wonderful mountains in the distance. you ahve framed the picture well with the tall fir trees on either side. your detail and sharpness, along with the depth of field are excellent. great dodging and burning work.

Hi Chris,

The distance between the houses and the mountains is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the houses anf of the mountains. The cloudy sky is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Chris,

The clouds are strongly in evidence, and it was taken with a film camera but the scenic view is there for all to appreciate. The tree curtain adds a little mystery to the shot, almost as if we are peeping at the houses. There is a fine sense of depth from the trees to distant, snowy peaks. Just imagine having that view every day!!
