Photographer's Note
This is a shot from the lounge at the Chateau Lake Louise. The room has these enormous windows, through which you get this very famous view of Lake Louise and Mount Victoria. This spot is one of the prime attractions in the Canadian Rockies, so it gets prettry crowded in the summer, as can bee seen by the large numbers of people visible through the window. Unfortunately, there were no people in the one place I wanted to see them - at the table in front of the window. It would have been perfect with two people enjoying a drink and silhoetted against the view. The Chateau is one of the grand old hotels built during the railway era, and is worth taking a look around.

Well, now, you could have gone and rounded up two willing souls from the crowd out there to sit at the table for you, tell them you are a well-known photographer and buy them each a drink..
This is a lovely point of view out onto the lake through the arch. Beautiful mountain and sky, and I like the 'secondary' framing by the trees.

Hola Alvin.
Amazing view through the window, the mountains are very well captured, the tourists give action to your picture, good composed and good POV. This is one of the most beautiful places in Canada.
Happy New Year.

Alvin, very nicely framed. A very captivating view in the distance too. A great photo for your gallery. A very creative capture with the arched window frame!

Hi Alvin. That's great exposure balance. I also like the symmetrical nature provided from the archway. And the view beyond is quite nice. Good work Alvin.

Hello Alvin,
Amazing photo. I was at the same spot in July 2005 and tried to take some similar photos, but they aren't nearly as great as yours is! The garden was also gone as they were redeveloping and replanting everything.
The sharpness and clearness in your photo is amazing especially since it was taking from the lounge in the Chateau Lake Louise. Great composition and well captured. The people don't bother me at all. I know how busy it can be at that place and believe me, you can't avoid the crowds whether you want or not. Well done!

Hi Alvin
Good use of the foreground arch of the lounge window. Perhaps Id dodge the central shadow areas, & boost contrast slightly. Good work overall. The blue sky is marvellous. Tfs.

Hi Alvin, wonderful shot of an often photographed location that I know well! The impact of the arched frame is an excellent touch. I have been in that lounge myself but never fortunate enough to have gotten a seat at that particular location. :( People-less would have been ideal, but given the popularity of the place, almost impossible to do. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Alvin,
A good framing using the arch and obviously ideal visiting conditions on that day, hope you had time for the walk up to the 2nd lake, it's a great one. Not easy to shoot there without people so why not keep some, in that case a bit of fill flash could have been an idea. Always easier to tell afterwards, I'm also not used to pop up the flash in bright daylight !
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hi Alvin - stunning view, and I like the original framing, and no glare from the glass, I just wish the woman in the white sweater was a bit further away, though she is interesting in a strange way I can't figure out what she's doing.

Very nicely done, Alvin, I like the idea of including the table inside, instead of just using the window as a frame within a frame. The stream of people going to and from the lake is good--it's part of the genuine atmosphere of the place, which as you know is not exactly wilderness. But you might be better off without the woman in a white sweater. Nice glacial color in the lake! Regards, Ken.

Hi Alvin. Beautiful photo and a good use of the foreground architecture as a sort of natural frame for your scene. Always good to see the scenery of and around Lake Louise, and the saturated summer colors in your photo are really delightful. When I was in the area in September I stayed at the Deer Lodge which is more or less adjacent to the Chateau, but considerably less pricey. Nice capture.

And what a great view it is Alvin. The lake, mountain and sky are perfectly exposed. The people are dark so not as to distract from the scenery but still add foreground interest.

Hello Alvin, I was on the borders of Lake Louise in May '88 and I was amazed by the beauty, but also by the peacefullnes, I haven't seen any other people.
This is a lovely framed view on the lake and the people around, although I think its' a little bit too dark. The light on the lake and the mountains is beautiful!

Hi Alvin,
A nice view through a window that seems to work like a kind of polarizer too. Scenery behind the window is beautiful, I like both the lake and the mountains. It's a pitty the foreground with people is too dark.
Thanks,
Marek
