Clear Lake, a photo from Alberta, Prairies

I drove the Jasper/Banff highway this summer in the Canadian Rockies and it had been thirty years since I'd taken this road and I was constantly blown away by the natural beauty outside of my car window. I'm not sure of the name of this lake but it was about 45 minutes north of the town of Banff.

We were in this area 10 years ago and can still remember how round each corner was a fresh wonder to behold. The lake is, as you say, incredibly clear, and with the fringe of fir trees backed by stunning mountains you have a wonderful image.

Use of the polariser has done a great job of showing the jumble of logs etc beneath the surface. I like the composition with the concentration of the foreground.

Hi Doug,

Beautiful capture of I think "Herbert Lake". I do recognize this spot as I have a somewhat familiar shot of this lake.

I love how transparent the water in the foregournd and how blue it appears in the distance. Great composition, beautiful details and great colours. Great work, Doug!

I like how the clear water gradually turns to blue further away. The few clouds around the mountains do capture the eye.

Amazing view, incredibly clear waters ... am I right in thinking that the cold is responsible for preserving the sunken wood so well?
