Photographer's Note
Inspired by our own Viviane Faguay and a magnum photographer Elliott Erwitt I have finally decided to take a stab at combining my two passions, dogs and photography.
In my attempts I will not try to show pictures of dogs, but will try to present pictures with dogs in them.
In Northern America dogs are a big part of our society, they aren't just dogs or animals, they are companions and family members. Many of them lead a wonderfull life as part of a family, taking part in many of our activities, in some cases this is taken to the extreme and they are treated like barbie dolls wearing designer clothes or having their fur coloured. There is also other extreme where thousands of them are abused, neglected, some used for dog fighting or other criminal activities, thousands are euthanized in shelters each year simply because there is noone to claim them. On one hand there is a small group of hobby breeders trying to produce the best specimen possible for a breed, on the other hands we have some businesses mass produce them just like chickens to have them sold in petshops.
--------------------------------
This is my attempt number one, taken during the indoor hockey game, the man came into arena to watch his child or grandchild play the game and brought his family, including the dog, along.

the mix of colour and monochrome in this picture is what makes it interesting - the greys, blacks and blues around the dog, and the dynamic strip of colour across the photo. your composition is great. nice!

Not sharp, partially overexposed, but very well composed, and together with the note a good one.
I like the guiding lines of the compo: the diagonal shadow in the lower right, the bank, the red/blue line.
Well done, Peter.

hey this is really nice
next time try to catch the dog's face as well :)
i'm not very good at ost processing , so can't advise you much in this respect, but i think you could try and get a better result out of this one. if you look at the image closely, particulary at the legs of the man sitting on the extreme right and even at the area near it, you'll notice a kind of a bluish aura or something around it. i guess this is due to the post processing.
ooooops in a hurry i read the opposite and my brains didn't function while i posted the critique :)

This is a nice shot to begin with. I like the way you framed this though IMHO, the topmost rails distract abit so i would crop it even tighter.

Ok, I must admit from my last comment that this one really changes from your favorite topic of interest ;-)...
It's a Maciek like composed shot (who himself takes inspiration from Parr or Webb) and as already said a good and bold start for a new serie.
Some picks now : perhaps about the top of the image, the glaring white area really takes too much attention from the reading, I'd suggest that cropping a small part, say 20 pixels, would reduce it's importance and therefore help focus on the main point of interest.
Waiting for the following dog.
