Photographer's Note

She was sitting there, as she often does when there is nothing urgent to sew or mend, with a contemplative, beautiful, melancholy face looking through the glass of the little sewing repair business they own. Her expression and her quiet calm, holding her morning tea, was what arrested me in that very windy, chilly winter morning a week or so ago. I do not know what exactly grabbed me then, but something did, and like the wind, swept me away... Perhaps it was these two worlds, coalescing--the inner, contemplative one, and the outer, active one.

(I thought of cropping my reflection altogether but finally decided to leave it there, because the man's galopping gait just beside me, so determined against the strong wind, rhymed interestingly with the seamstress's arms and with my own blowing hair; and this way I could show a bit of the inner world of the store.)
