Photographer's Note
A resigned one year old Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus) cub wearily follows its mother across the permafrost - waiting for the day the Hudson Bay freezes over and they can go hunting again... At this point it was -18C, and the Hudson Bay was starting to freeze, so hopefully they didn't have much longer to wait!
During the thaw they live off their fat reserves, so it's vital that they hunt successfully during the colder months.

That's a beautiful wildlife capture. Not just for being able to capture such a subject, but for the quality of your composition. It's very well balanced, the background is well cropped. Top pic! And those bears really look sad...

You are a risk taker here Adrian :). The 28-135 is definitely not long enough for the shot and I did not see a shotgun listed as part of your equipment here.
Very nice capture and full marks for your bravery.

This is a great shot Adrian. You must of been pretty close judging by the lens you used. I can't think of anything you could do to make this one better.. except maybe get closer next time :).... just kidding.

Beautiful in every way!!!!! I thought polar bears stalk humans....... how fast can you run? The baby is just prefect leaning against mom, I doubt male bears stick around to raise cubs?

As a thumbnail the shot did not seem to convey as much. However, it is really a great shot... the closed eyes on the cub and determined look on the mother's face. The colours are great, textures, focus and composition are excellent.

Vous avez très bien décrit la scène par l'image avec un bon commentaire.
Le cadrage est parfait, cependant je note une légère dominante bleue. J'ai effectué un WS.
You described very well the scene by a picture with a good comment. Framing is perfect, however I note light dominant blue. I carried out a WS.

Lovely shot. Detailed, perfectly exposed despite the challenges of 'white' on white, great timing to have the cub looking so pooped! Were you in a vehicle or a protected hide?

Very fine and touching capture Adrian - the little bear actually seams to be very tired - and the worried look in the mother’s eye evident. Great shot indeed - lucky they didn't spotted you.

Adrian, I was thrilled to see that this photo came up as a feature this afternoon when I logged on. You not only caught an exceptional experience of polar bears up this close, but also the look on the cub's face is quite precious. I think I'm out of smiley's today, but the sentiment is here with you!

The color of the bear and cub is perfect against the snow. Good shot of the mother's paw showing how it's naturally turned in to help with swimming. Beautiful!
