Photographer's Note
I can see Mount Cheam in all its splendor right from my own driveway so can't help but share it with TE now and again. This view of this well known landmark was taken last February when the Fraser River was at its lowest level of the season so is seen to be quite gentle and quiet here.
Wikipedia: Cheam Peak, called Theeth-uhl-kay in the Halqemeylem language of the Sto:lo and usually referred to as Mount Cheam, is the furthest northerly peak of the Skagit Range of the North Cascades mountains. It dominates the Eastern Fraser Valley, rising above Bridal Falls and Agassiz just east of Chilliwack, and west of Hope British Columbia. The north face, plunging 2000m to the Valley floor, has rarely been climbed. However, an easy trail provides access to the summit from a subalpine bowl to the southwest.
Cheam Peak was part of the oral history of the Stó:lō First Nation. The Halkomelem name for the peak, Theeth-uhl-kay, means "the source" or "the place from which the waters spring." For the Sto:lo, the peak is the "mother mountain" or old woman overlooking her children dwelling in the valley. Lady Peak, to the south is the old woman's dog. Cheam, the official name of the peak, is the Halkomelem word for "wild strawberries." This describes the ridge that includes Cheam and Lady Peaks, and the lower slopes around Spoon Lake and upper Airplane Creek.
The first recorded ascent of the mountain was in 1888 by A. O. Campbell, Ebe B. Knight and party.
The trailhead to Cheam Peak, is via decommissioned logging roads accessible from Chilliwack Lake Road on the south side of Cheam. Good directions are necessary as the route is difficult and confusing. Access with a four wheel drive vehicle is recommended. From the trailhead, a 3.8 km trail leads through subalpine meadows and then ascends, moderately steeply, 632 m to the peak. The summit offers views of the Fraser Valley to the north and west and of the Cheam Range and North Cascade mountains to the south.

Wow, fantastic lighting and a great reflection too. The golden light of sunset is really beautiful, and gives the photo a different, warmer appearance than the usual cold blue of snowy mountains. The rocks on the lower left are good too, because they give a sense of depth and also they tend to balance the frame. Excellent work!

Hi Gerald,
Magnificent mountain landscape with exceptionally chrisp clear colors and wonderfully fine details. The burnt copper stand of Feburary trees contrast beautifully with the snow capped mother mountain. The reflection is quite striking while the little bit of rock beach in the foreground is a nice addition to this lovely image.

Hi Gerald,
Beautiful color and detail; I especially like the reflection. I collect photos of people's views from their home. Although this isn't quite "From my Window" this spectacular photo wins, hands-down, as the most spectacular view. I hope you don't mind that I've added it to my collection.

Again an evidence for your "good seeing eye" which is much more important than any technical equipment. Amazing autumn colors embraced by the nice whites and blues (glaciers ?) of the hill.

Hello Gerald,
A first rate panoramic capture of Mount Cheam. Indeed, it is so much better to provide the expansive horizontal view here. The subdued light, with the reflections on the water make the scene so picturesque. The colours are splendid and the light is perfect. I don't think you could better the quality or the sharpness, they are just outstanding.Informative your note too.

Another very nice square crop. I love the colors combination here. The late evening late really gives this landscape a special glow and sets the trees on fire. The snow creates nice contrast. I like the little bit of rocks in the lower left hand corner too, for a nice informal balance.
