Photographer's Note

Today I reached back into my Alberta archive to share another shot overlooking the Spray Lakes Reservoir less than an hour south of Canmore along the Smith Dorien Trail. The day we visited this location last October the weather was mild but I got lucky with this shot just before the winds picked up. I love the big open sky of this place and with a few clouds floating around, it couldn't be much better.

Great that you dived into your archives.

What a wonderful picture. Those wide open spaces and big skies is what I remember most about my visit to Alberta.

Excellent details trhoughout the picture and rich deep colours.

Astonishing shot of the marvellous place. I like the way you have captured the U effect. The blue tones attract but when I enlarged the picture I couldn't get the desired effects. If you have the enlarged version of the original shot, could youn please arrange to send it to my mail?

Hello Gerald,

The Spray Lakes are very pretty in my opinion. They do lack the higher alpine beauty of other smaller lakes but the scenery is still brethtaking. The colour of the sky is well saturated here. The clouds reflect nicely on the water. Good framing and details. Thanks Gerald.

Evening Gerald. Amazing reflection in wonderful clarity here. I love the way you allowed the clouds to fill the reflection more than outside the water. So wide open and beautiful...just like how the Rockies is supposed to be seen!

The clarity of the sky reflection is exceptional here, Gerald, this is a textbook example of how much photographic interest can be contained in a sky with clouds, provided that there is a good light.

Hi Gerald,

Natural pride of our vast country, this albertan scene is simply breath taking! The deep colours of this majestic landscape are absolutely gorgeous. It seems that the clouds are perfectly placed to fill the gap between the mountains, delicately disperse to make sure the celestial blue prevails. The reflection is crystal clear and present this idealistic place like the most peaceful one.
