Photographer's Note
In my last posting I described the flat roofed buildings in Kathmandu which perhaps allow for easy future expansion but which also provide space for watertanks, airconditioning units, lookouts and clothes lines. All the rooftops are accessible.
This photo looking across Kathmandu was taken from Swayambhunath Temple - a Buddhist temple which sits on top of a hill west of Kathmandu - also known as the Monkey Temple.

Hi Marlene ,I like this view of the modern housing of Kathmandu quite a variety of styles. When i think of Nepal i imagine wooden structures, but i suppose that's the countryside ,this is city living. Thanks Tom.

Hello Marlene,
My vague memories from this area 37 years ago tell me about a rural area with a few farmhouses. I am quite sure nothing in this photo existed then. This is an interesting picture that I watch with mixed feelings.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Marlene,
Interesting city planning, looks like they have carefully avoided straight lines and perpendicular angles. This image gives an impression of a modern cubistic painting. Quite attractive cityscape!
Kind regards

An unusual view of Kathmandu Marlene - the real city. A good clear view of interesting facades as well as the less exciting brick and concrete.
cheers

Hi Marlene,
your POV works excellently and creates a very interesting impression of this fascinating cityscape. You are giving me a detailed idea of the modern architecture and lifestyle. Very good photo work! Most of all I like how the light is illuminating the different houses. TFS!

Nice shot. Its amazing the patterns these brick houses make on the topography of Kathmandu. I took a similar shot while flying over the city, just before we landed in Tribhuvan Airport.
