It is while going to return visit to " THOMAS "
in Hospital of " (heathers) "
that I crossed the road of this " charming small church "
, that I post this Sunday, with a small thought of encouragement (even large) for Thomas so that they is repaired very quickly, and especially so that " Rosa "
does not have to carry all the photo material lasting the meeting to Lille, a Little history, Under l' Old Mode, c' is to say before the Legal settlement (1814) and l' independence (1830), Roms嶪 n' d' is nothing; other qu' a hamlet of l' avouery of Fl廨on. From the religious point of view, the locality belongs to the parish of Ch瘽嶪; however, since at least 1755, the funeral is celebrated in the vault Notre Dame de Roms嶪, and the marriages since at least 1762.
In 1763, baptismal funds are set up there; the vault becomes parish with l' time of the Legal settlement, on this rural landscape, superimposes an industrial landscape, under l' old mode, the territory of the locality is strewn with small forging mills nail-boxes and of small pits with coal, the first are exploited by nailsmiths in residence working on behalf of the merchants of Liege, exporters of nails towards the shipyards of Holland and Zealand.
The seconds provide to the first the fuel which they need. In 1812, one does not count less than twelve small collieries with Roms嶪, but the majority of these companies did not meet the conditions required by the law of 1810 to obtain a concession; in 1838 still, one found in Roms嶪 several coal mining: Funds of Tawes, Given, Nooz, Refroideur, fork, Steppes, W廨ister; c' is with the profit of this last that s' is operated in second half of the 19th century the concentration qu' required the increasingly thorough mechanization of l' coal industry. " A stele is set up with the memory of the victims dand the mines "
on the place of Roms嶪 opposite the church In 1896, two seats d' extraction were in activity on the territory of Roms嶪.
