Photographer's Note
This is the Grand Hotel, Mackinaw Island, Michigan. The Grand Hotel is Michigan's only five star hotel. The hotel opened in 1887, and is a national historic treasure. With additions over the years, it now has 385 rooms. The front pourch, considered the longest in the world at 1000 feet, is a great place to sit in one of the numerous rocking chairs to enjoy the view.
Mackinaw Island sits on Lake Huron, off the mainland of Michigan. The island is only accesible by boat or plane, and no motorized vehicles are allowed on the island. The island is a very popular vacation spot.
This photo was taken from a ferry boat on the way to the island.
