Photographer's Note

This was shot at noon to take advantage of the shadows under the clap boards. I have been trying to shoot white churches with low angle sun but it comes out hot and with low detail sometimes. Today at lunch I tried this and am pleased with the results and looking forward to your comments. In addition to the stark mid day lighting I also find the lines awkward. Here the center front wall axis is vertical but standing below the foundation looking up does present a challenge. I was also pleased that this one had angles that did not include a lot of electrical wiring overhead.

This building was built in 1788 though the congregation was organized in 1743. The building has been in continuous use and is in remarkable condition.

This is on State Highway 10 on the south side of Southampton.
