Photographer's Note
AYMINY (A Yorkshire Man In New York) is a series of shots I took on a short visit to New York.
This is the second shot in a series taken on a short break in New York.
I will also be posting some shots (mainly B&W) from this trip on my Treklens site.
We arrived in New York from Manchester (via Zurich)on a Saturday in the early evening, it was raining.
This shot was taken on a quick walk round the Times Square area.

Hi Stephen
I like the crop you have used for this shot as it accentuates the verticals, although I do find the light at the top a bit distracting. The placement of the sign against the colourful background works well, and the shape of the signs themselves compliments the horizontals in the background. Well spotted.

This has a nice sense of atmosphere, starting with the steet signs giving the location. I like the 'verticality' of the shot, with the lines of the building drawing my eye up and up. Great shot for one taken in the dark!

I like the towering feel here. Even though it is a tight view of a part of Times Square I still easily remember the canyon like feel. Here it's the solid facade, the buildings behind and the lamp post, even that soars upward creating that. Having the intersecting signs of these two famous streets is a nice final touch to remind us of what all advertising and all behind is part of.
