Photographer's Note

The seventh anniversary of the 9-11 attacks has arrived. I looked through old photo albums, and came across this view of some tourists on a boat that was passing by the WTC. I, too, was on this boat, with a friend visiting from Japan. The tourists look somewhat disinterested with the towers, but actually we had already passed them once before as the boat left the South Street Seaport, and I suppose they had already taken their own photos.

I used to love those buildings, but in the end they were only objects made of steel. The true, irreplacebale losses are those of the precious lives that ended that day in 2001.

Here's wishing peace to you all from NYC...9-11-08
