First experience, a photo from California, West

Photographer's Note

This is a fragment of a sculpture entitled "The First Experience" by Erwin Binder, which I came across during an evening stroll somewhere in LA.

The photo was taken with a point-and-shoot camera, no flash or tripod, so from early on it was an experiment. Included in the workshop is another image showing the full statue. I converted the photo to B&W, applied a sepia filter to accentuate the forms and light, reduced noise by increasing contrast, then adjusted lighting. I wonder what you think of the final product.

Wonderful minimal composition with lovely light management and warm colour tones, excellent POV and framework, it will be working very well and with B&W processing, TFS!

Hello Izabela,
I think that the final product of your composition and pp treatment is marvellous. A very elegant, eloquent and atmospheric image with superb perspective and depth and artistic lighting against a dark backdrop. Maybe the sharpness could be a bit more enhanced but it's not that important as I think that you found the perfect angle to make the image as expressive as possible. Congratulations and thank you!

Hi Izabela !!
you have converted a snap shot into something artistic..... that requires imagination and creativity...... so give you credit for that quality.
The final product is very nice from a graphic point of view...... probably nicer and better than looking at the real sculpture.
I hope that you received the 6 pages that I sent ref. Broken Hill
