Garden of the Gods, a photo from Colorado, West

Photographer's Note

The public bus from Colorado Springs out to the red rock formations known as the Garden of the Gods (visible here in the distance) doesn't take you right to the park entrance, but stops short by a mile or 2. But it's a pleasant walk with some nice views nonetheless. I caught a taxi back to town. The Mexican restaurant just outside the park was kind enough to let me use their phone. Lots of pp work here, with the strong, early morning side-lighting from the left. Wasn't sure whether to leave the pentangle lens reflection in, or clone it out. I boosted saturation & played with the levels.

Hi Chris,

The distance between the bridge and the mountains is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the mountains. The good luminosity is giving nice tints to the colors. Have a nice day.

really like your post processing here. It has boosted the effect of the light and made this image look like a walk into a painted landscape. The colours and textures are so beautiful and the presentation fascinating. Wonderful!

Another bridge but in the USA for a change
A nice shot almost against the light with very delicate colors almost undersaturated
As a result a very tranquil and serene landscape so typical of the West

Hello Chris,

You might have created more problems trying to remove the reflections, for me, they are not a distraction. I do love the centrally positioned bridge with its attractive, chequerboard shadow which guides the viewer seemlessly from the f/g, via the pathway, to the background. The colours are interesting, particularly the red cliff, in the distance, not like anything I have seen in the U.K.

this picture stands out even in the smaller thunbnail image. great composition with a wonderful light and resulting colours. you have composed this perfectly with the path and little foot bridge drawing the viewer further into the scene. an excellent, atmospheric picture.

The scenery is beautiful and dramatic. It looks great landscapes of the Languedoc-Roussillon in the south of France. Point of view and framing are cleverly chosen. The quality is excellent. Bravo.

These small brigde, inclusive the shadows leads us depth to the mountains in background.
Perspective and depth are lovely through your excellent angle.
Sharpness and clarity are very nice.

This on has certain wild west feeling, it aonly misses a cowboy and a horse. Lovely autumn light and impressive rocky mountain background. Shadow on the bridge catches attention in the foreground.

What immediately caught my eyes is the shadow of the wooden culvert elongating towards the viewer & drawing our eyes straight in. You took this against the light, but the PP work, heavy as you say is not very pronounced. I had a thought about the flare, but its not easy to clone it out. Nice saturated colours

War a beautiful palette of colours here, it really does look like a painting. The golden trees are particularly attractive and the depth of field is really impressive. I like the play of shade and light in the FG is really beautiful. Excellent shot of a place I could look at all day.
