Photographer's Note
Crisp Winter Air
Rocky Mountain National Park ..
for those of you tired of these snow pictures .. almost there : )
but we have the most snow we have had here at the base of the mountains in a long while .. so I have snow on the brain ..
I kept stopping at this image as I flipped through this set .. and not posting it .. because it really is just a clutter of things covered with fresh snow .. but I have come to peace with the fact that is kind of the point of this one ..the fresh crispness of winter air and the rocky jumbled clutter of the forests of the Rocky Mountains ..
I remember this conversation repeatedly with my Dad .. "You know why they call them the Rocky Mountains don't you .. because they are covered with rocks" ..
hope you are all having a safe and warm season ..

Hi John,
The white snow really highlights the rich shade of the blue sky. Great POV with the partially exposed boulders.
Happy Holiday,
Tom

Some of us can only dream about white snow, crispy fresh air and a moody holiday time, right here, in Toronto.
Unusually warm weather, and it's so good to have at least a wonderful snowy photo to dream a little dream about White Christmas.
Thanks John.
All the best

Hello John -
This is a well composed and executed image. Don't kick yourself about the image it is very good. Think about using it for you Christmas Card next year. The exposure is spot on the money, the composition and POV are pleasing, and it is sharp - what else can you ask for? Well done!!

Hi John, very nice photo. I like how sharp it is. I can see from time to time your photography skill improves a lot. From a little less sharp to this sharp. Your color management is also awesome. Wonderful shot. Sothy

Indeed crisp winter air. Great clarity in this shot. Love the contrast between sky and foreground. Sharpness is fine, composition also. Again, well done. I'm seeing progression in your shots..really..more than in my own shots. :)
Have a good weekend.

Hi John!
Everytime I see one of your photos, I wish I could go to see Colorado. You know, I惴 in love with Europe, but your photos of Colorado are so gut and so beautiful that I would like to go one day to see all this with my eyes...
but it愀 hard to go to the USA, visa issues, so, for the moment, I惻l continuing looking at your photos...
Well seen! a clean and balanced photo.
Feliz A隳!

Hi John,
I am glad you posted it, as it is wonderful. A very nice Christmas postcard.
The perfect sharpness and vibrant colors and that snow on the trees really make us feel the "crisp winter air". The compo is great also, with the almost diagonal cut of the tree lines and that big rock not permitting the image to be dull and giving depth.
Happy holiday,
Rgds.

I like this picture because I feel it is what you saw as ascended the steep mountain-side, almost as if you looked up from the trail and took it without pausing in your climb. It makes me feel as if I am there with you, and you have no idea what that is like to a city bound mountain lover. It has a real 3D look too!
