Photographer's Note
Upper Beaver Meadows
Upper Beaver Meadows - Rocky Mountain National Park.
Just down the road from my previous post .. and six months earlier ..
Posted this one just because I am thinking of Spring (I know it is an August shot .. but at least it looks like Spring).
Any visitor to Rocky Mountain National Park should note the weather .. the forecast .. which is pretty much the same from May to September .. A beautiful morning and an afternoon thunderstorm .. It is important to take this account on any hike .. It is not pleasant to be caught on a barren mountainside in the thunderstorm ...
Upper Beaver Meadows is a quiet area in the park accessed by a bumpy dirt road with wonderful peak views on all sides and several quiet picnic areas .. A few hiking trails pass through here .. but they are longer less frequented trails. The last time I was hiking in this area there were a number of signs up warning the hiker of heavy mountain lion activity.
Again the big mountain is Longs Peak the signature mountain of Rocky Mountain National Park at 14,259 ft - 4345 meters.

Hi John.
The full cloudy sky and this lightness give an atmosphere that I like very much. From bright green to the durker green, it gives also a nice effect. The depth is very clear and has good contrast. A very nice place.
Have a nice time.
I will come back

Hi Jonn,
Very moody feel to this photo of the gathering storm. The wild flowers and grass seen in low light will soon be nurished by the coming storm.

As a devoted Rockies freak I'd say this is an excellent shot. You have managed to portrait that gloomy Rockies' light as it is in reality. Great job, my compliments!
It also inspired me to post a WS.
No pretensions involved, just my own version of your fine picture.
Warm regards,
Fulvio.

Hi John,
You captured very well the beauty of the place and the strange light, not much photo friendly, but you did tamed it very well.
I like the way all that grass and the subtle different tones of it works like a "preamble" to the forest and the mountains on the distance. The storm clouds make it very dramatic.
Congratulations, somehow I think that it isn't a subject and light so easy to give so impressive photo.
Regards, José.

Hi John,
Leaden colored sky and green tones are stunning in your photo. Dark green forest is working as an excellent divider in your photo. Green field, mountains are creates wonderful view with fabulous cloudy sky. Congratulations.

Hi John,
I like the DOF in this photo, although it is a cloudy day you have managed to maintain a very well detailed background with an excellent lighting control TFS

the effect of dark sky is tremendous here. although taken in the middle of summer the land seems very isolated no trace of life or humans in the area that s another interesting issue.
