Photographer's Note
This photo was taken just outside Oceanside in the Cape Meares National Wildlife Refuge. This area is really known for the lighthouse atop a huge hill that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. We took a path that we thought would lead us to the lighthouse, but instead were treated to this view immediately.
This stop was a part of the Three Capes Loop just outside of Tillamook, Oregon. It's a beautiful route and worth the extra time.

Excellent shot Brian. All those rays of sun breaking through the trees looks awesome. The extreme wide-angle works very well here, and I like how the path leads into the photo. Very nicely captured!

Brian, this photo has caught my attention while looking through the gallery and I've noticed it is second photo in row this evening. This shot is absolutely outstanding and left me speechless (as well as the fact that it has received so little attention. It is amazing moment and you've been really lucky to have camera with you. Great work. Lucie
PS: as I had to comment on your last two posts, I have to add you to my favorites not to miss more.. :)

Hi again Brian! You really have a nice gallery! But being somewhat of a fan of large trees, this one caught my eye. Of course the lighting effect with the rays is very dramatic and exciting. But I think your low to the ground POV really emphasized it along with the height of the trees as well as the density of the forest too. It all works together to create this very provocative image.
Nice work!

Great surreal effect, I love how the trees disappear in the distance.. and the oath has just enough light on it to make it look inviting..

Lovely, unusual and supernatural photo. It allows us to admire an effect that is very hard to catch with naked eye... it's very ephemeral and temporary - Your photo allows us to watch it as long as we only want to!

Very dreamy photo, like from a fairy tale, I'm just expecting an unicorn around the corner ;-)
Great techincal execution too, I've never succeeded to control the contrasts in the woods on a sunny day.

Great light effect and great use of the wide lens in this picture. The forest look like wide opened.
I was finding some pictures with this 12-24 and I check that this lens is very sharp and get some very nice colors.
Nice shot,
Cheers, Jean-Claude

I had a look through your gallery as well and I stopped on this one.
My first thought is:how the heck can he shoot into the sun and still have so many details. Honestly, I don't understand...I would like to, but I don't.
But taken as it is, this one is incredible, really. It looks like it comes straight out of a fairy tale or something...
I would like to know your little trick...
Have a nice one,
Marc
