Photographer's Note
Expecting to encounter quite a bit of competition from other photographers, I got to Dead Horse Point at 5:40 am, about 35 minutes before sunrise. Fortunately I beat most of them and got a pretty good spot at the edge of a cliff below the main viewpoint.
I was expecting a beautiful sight, but nothing like this. It was one of the most incredible sunrise experiences I've had. Dead Horse Point is photographed over and over and over, but until you've been there for sunrise, you can't imagine how incredible it is.
This view is looking more to the south, as opposed to the standard view toward the Gooseneck Bend. The canyons in the distance are not part of the state park, but are federal land.

Hi Clark,
You're caturing well this canyons before sunrise by a good angle and excellent tone, so it's impressive to see the contrast of bare rock that the sun has inserted and place not so and many layers have piled in rock. And, meandering motoring road in valley draws out a good effect for the whole as well as plant seen under the left, I think.

Bonjour
Belle prise de vue. Toutes fois j'aurais limité l'avant plan pour donner un peu plus le vertige au lecteur..

...down by a river...Wow Clark, this is wonderful! What a view! I can't begin to imagine what it must be like to actually stand there for sunrise but your picture gives us a really good hint. Beautiful! Well worth the early rise.

Hello Clark.
This shot is given a real boost by the CPL in enriching the colours. Your composition is first class, in allowing just a little sky above the high horizon, giving a great view of the road below in the valley, and placing the bright yellow-green bush in the lower left corner to add something to the foreground. The scenery itself is spectacular indeed. Worth the early start!

Hello Clark - Amazing broad sweep of landscape. The light as it highlights the complex terrain is very attractive and I would love to drive down the small road which wends its way through this dramatic scenery. Well worth the early morning start! Best regards Rosemary
