Photographer's Note
This is a picture of the giant Ferris wheel located at pier 57 on Seattle's waterfront. It features 42 enclosed gondolas with space for up to 252 passengers total. The 175-foot-tall (53-metre-tall) wheel cost $20 million and was constructed as part of a private-sector initiative to revitalize Seattle's waterfront.
The pier itself is a icon of sorts in this port city. Having seen early trade with Japanese and the Alaskan Gold Rush.
