Photographer's Note
I have always been intrigued by the wonders of God's awesome creation and creativity.
Cloud formations have always been of interest to me. Like most children do, I remember trying to determine what the clouds "looked like." You remember, "Hey, that cloud looks like an alligator, a turtle, a horse, etc."
I don't know what the cloud pictured here "looks like," but I'm sure glad this one was passin' through. ;o)
This picture was taken from my back yard here in the Yakima Valley of eastern Washington State.
The rows seen on the hillside are young apple trees. Yakima County is the USA's largest apple producing County.
God's best, Tim

A slight increase in contrast and sharpening of the edges is the extent of the help this photo received.
The original posting mistakenly showed a 30 second exposure. The cloud looked exactly like this when photographed. It was just "point & shoot." Thanks for those who noticed my mistake.

The colors are so nice in this. So soft yet strong. And that is an interesting cloud formation. The way it's in shelves all throughout really is catching. The way it's smooth on one side but sort of breaks up at the other gives it a lot of interest. I'm trying to think what could this be, also. I'm thinking pancake batter mixing together on the griddle. The breaking up end like the bubbling batter. Then I just made some pancakes earlier so that is influencing me. Very interesting formation. I never tire looking at the clouds. Nicely photographed.

An incredible sky. The photo, with the wide angle has so much depth, but what is fascinating is the many layers of cloud formation, with the crowning ( I see a boomerang) cloud in the center. Well done.

When I saw th thumb I thought I was looking at a photo of a painting. Whe I opened it I still couldn't understand how that was a real cloud in the center. I just came back, opened it a second time and noticed the long exposure; which explains the very cool slightly slurred effect. Very intriguing and a very fine capture.

It looks like a painting of Magritte. Very nice (funny also : I see a sort a phallus...)

I agree, this reminds me of "Castle in the sky" by Magritte.
Well, it´s obvious that cloud is shaped as a heart, if seen directly from underneath.
Excelent picture, great handling of the available lightand very good framing.
I´m a clouds fan myself and I hope I can one day contribute with something as nice as this ...

Great formation, but I wonder about that 30 second exposure time..Good color and framing..It reminds me of a boomerang too, slicing thru maybe an....apple ?? ;-)

Serait-ce un OVNI (UFO) camouflé en nuage ???

Wow, what a unique sight to see, Tim. You managed to capture proof of the fact that nature is an amazing artist. Not only is the big, sort of kidney-shaped, cloud a real attention-drawer, but I also like the interestingly shaped smaller ones above. Fine soft light, and I think you found an imposing, yet appropriate relation between sky and land in your composition. Very nicely done.
P.S. I notice this is your first posting off the HP-945. Are you happy with it? I'm on the HP-850 (its predecessor; same Fuji 37-300 mm lens).

Surely some special and amazing clouds you got on the two photos. Never seen anything like this before and I would surely have reached for the camera like you did. You also show got the fine landscape and showing us the wineyard nicely - Very good work Tim - Thanks for sharing.

Hi Tim;
I must admit, I've never been much of a cloud gazer before- but looking at your shots, just may change my mind! Haha
Very strange formations, I can honestly say I've never seen anything like it?
Well spotted, and well captured...
Cheers!

I got a feeling God was having fun with the clouds that day. Instead of the normal, mundane just keep on going clouds, this time it wanted attention. Sometimes, we have to look up at the clouds, to see and appreciate the land below it.
Just coming by Tim.
God's best to you too.
