Dawn in Thomas Basin, Ketchikan, Alaska. This is a typical summer morning: overcast and glassy calm with what I call "toothpaste fog" out on the channel. Soon the fishermen will be hard at work chasing the returning salmon.

Alaska is very high on my list of places to go, and this shot is part of the reason. Great view of the early morning - the still water creates some beautiful reflection, and the clouds a really interesting frame dividing the shot. Good muted color as well.

This is the kind of composition that really makes the picture, clean and neat with the arrangement to focus more on the boats. The calm surface stillness of the water and reflection is what makes this overcast day special. Wonderful detal in cool color tones and soft lighting but the low lying 'toothpate fog' in the backdrop is really something special!! Grey day but certainly pleasant, Well done.
