Scavenger Hunt Entry: An Unsafe Act

The temperatures in our area had been above freezing the past two days and this individual still chose to go ice fishing. As you can see the waters near the shore of the lake had already started to melt.

This indeed looks like an unsafe act ... well at least not something I would be embarking on, I guess. Very interesting scene with the ice fisherman well placed in the frame, and the improvised sign in the foreground adding on to the storytelling element. Good exposure to render the details in the winter light.

It seems indeed very imprudent. Nice composition with the panel on the left and the board leading to the fisher. Well done Linda !

Great hunt entry Linda. and I like the use of the white space for the compo. Not sure about the tree on the left, not enough of it to work as a frame, maybe better to crop to the left of the sign, just a minor quibble.

Wonderful subject, icefishing.

I come from a country where it is totaly unknown, but I live in a country now where people seem crazy abuot it.
There are realy a lot of footsteps on the snow, so there must have been a lot of fishing, and this one just wont give up.
Good note and entry, realy adds this tension to the picture.

Hi Linda,

For me this picture is very interesting because as far as I can see it is almost the same type of ice fishing that is praticed here (see one of my photos). I think you have captured the situation very well and I really like the inclusion of the sign Ice fisher Men Only, because it is dangerous to go out on the ice if you do not know what you are doing. A great job!
