Photographer's Note
GoProvidence
Providence, capital of Rhode Island and the Providence Plantations. The smallest state in the USA with the longest name. A stopover of a few hours during our trip from New York to Boston.
A good choice because Providence is an interesting city. Lars has already shown a number of striking buildings of the city in three presentations.
The starting point of my presentation is a poster with which the city promotes itself among tourists.
The poster is the main photo. We find three elements in the photo that praise the city: a building, a gondola and the Waterfire’s in the river.
These objects can be seen in real life on the 2 additional photos.
■ Picture 1: ◄ GoPROVIDENCE ►
Poster Welcome - Providence: One Citizens Plaza, a Gondola and the Waterfire’s.
■ Picture 2: ◄ All in One ►
• The building is One Citizens Plaza, opened in 1991 and designed by Architect
Jung / Brannen Associates and Robinson Green Beretta Architects. It is the headquarters or Citizens Bank. Not directly a crowd puller but possibly the bank sponsors this promotional campaign.
• In the distance we see a gondola just before the bridge. Furthermore, we did not see much activity from the gondolas and Venice and Las Vegas do not have to worry about this competitor.
• On the poster we see the river illuminated by fire pots. We see it again, but without fire, in the photo. This is an award winning sculpture by Barneby Evans. It consists of 80 sparkling bonfires. During the day a beautiful elongated ribbon that connects the Moshassuck River and the Woonasquatucket River. Undoubtedly a magical spectacle in the evening.
■ Picture 3: ◄ Gondola ►
In the third photo we see two gondolas with three gondoliers on the left probably discussing how to attract more tourists.
The best way to view the pictures is to use the links above.

Hello Rob,
I perfectly understand why you have used the poster as your main post; it's an artistic introduction to the actual features that you feature in reality in your w/s.
However, for me, it is the least interesting of the three photographs.
I just love your two w/s photographs, each showing amazing composition and sharp details of the city's individual characteristics.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Rob,
This is a surprising choice of main photo. You usually try to add your own stamp on photos of any kind of art. But seeing the workshops your choice becomes more logical when we see in reality what the poster shows in an artist's interpretation. The "All in one" photo makes me curious about the installation in the water. It is an original work of art and it would no doubt have been interesting to see an evening photo if you had decided to spend the night here. I think you are safe to say that the gondolas of Providence can't compete with those in Venice or even Las Vegas. I could add that there is an even more pathetic "mini-Venice" in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hi Rob,
The sign is an eye-catcher and an invitation to visit the city. The point of view is showing the beautiful design of the poster. The light isd bringing out the colours. Have a nice day.

Hallo Rob,

The poster is a nice way to welcome guests, I like both photos in WS too, a nice idea to show both elements in the reality

Hi Rob.How beautiful this poster is, I had thought of an old box of cookies before opening the miniature .. hehe .. great idea to open this post, with the two WS very useful, the modern building is really ugly, while the Venetian gondola is always a pleasure to see. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

hello Rob, This time I prefer the Workshop pictures with the real view instead of the poster without the interactions with the viewers. It is indeed strange to see the gondolas and even gondoliers in their stripe white blue shirts in Providence. Excellent all photos.
Kind regards Malgo

Bonjour, cher Rob,

Hello Rob,
The colorful poster has the look and feel of a 1960's pop-art poster. The gondola is an unexpected bonus. Hope they are cheaper than Venice, where it was 80 Euro for 30 minutes! Good sharpness and the workshop images compliment the main post. Tfs!

Hello Rob, once again three very interesting pictures.
I can understand why you used the poster as the main post, but I think 'Gondola' could have been an alternative, with the title 'Where in the world is this?'
The Waterfires sounds like a great photo opportunity, maybe another time?
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

Hallo Rob,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Rob.
I love the tourist poster for the convention, with that touch Art Nouveau, the gondola and the building that seems the most representative of the city, both elements can be seen in the two beautiful photos of the WS.
A magnificent range of colors, in some tones, very attractive.
Good management of brightness and sharpness.
Very well done. I love.
Have a great day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Rob,
It's nice to see some views from Providence. I wouldn't have guessed that they had gondolas in the river. The poster in the main photo represents everything you are showing in the WS scenes, and I like the two river views

Hallo Rob, good idea to capture the poster making the promotion of Providence. Its objective is to attract business persons and tourists in the city. The city's symbols are represented on the advertisement.
