Photographer's Note

A ringnecked parrot I spotted in the Gloucester conservation park which protects the giant tree and fire lookout at the top. In Western Australia it is also called the 28 parrot, because the call it makes is a whistled 'twen-ty-eight'!

The photo is rather small, but the parrot looks great. You found it perfectly seated on the wooden pole, just like it was kindly posing for you. It's a perfectly sharp photo and the colours seem completely natural.

What a colourful bird!
WE only see birds like this in zoos, or occasionally when one has escaped from captivity!
It's a fine photograph, the bird creating a sharp diagonal across the frame, against a useful, blurred b/g.
