Photographer's Note
John Curtin, elected member for Fremantle in 1928 became Prime Minister of Australia in 1941 when two independent members switched their support and enabled the Labor Party to form government.
I noted this statue situated outside the Fremantle Town Hall when I once visited the area and when I returned, I made a point of visiting it to obtain a photo. However, to my delight, I saw that some wag had since placed a puppet on the sheaf of papers he was brandishing. Comic relief was injected into the earnest moment being portrayed! (I doubt that the little fellow was allowed to stay long.)
I have tried (not as successfully as I would like) to soften the background so the foreground image is stronger and have had to highlight some elements of the statue that were otherwise quite dark.

What can I say - it made me chuckle out loud - a good start to a Sunday morning - your close compo works well but I think I might have played with the possibilities here a little more - the way you have framed the head of J. Curtin within the triangle I shouldn't worry so much about the distractions of the background - the neo-classical forms add to the august nature of the image until you notice our little friend and then they become part of the perfect counterfoil!
