Photographer's Note
When backing up my pc to a remote hard drive, I found some old film shots of Central Australia taken in 2010 I had forgotten about. This is Katatjuta in Central Australia also previously known as 'the Olgas'. The polarizing filter on the film camera was certainly more powerful than the one on my current digital camera! From this website is some more information below:
http://www.environment.gov.au/parks/uluru/visitor-activities/walks-kata-tjuta.html
"Walpa (meaning windy) Gorge is a desert refuge for plants and animals. The rocky track gently rises along an ephemeral stream, passing inconspicuous rare plants and ending at a grove of flourishing spearwood. Experience the sheerness of the domes and the vastness of the landscape. 2.6 km return, 1 hour."
This area reminded me of Utah in the USA. I finally got around to visiting a major tourist attraction in my own country, after putting it on the back-burner for decades.

Hello Chris,
I found some shots on my little casio that I had forgotten about but are still interesting finds. I bet you were pleased to find this! It is spectacular, especially when the figures reveal the sense of scale!
Youe pov uses a nice, curved guideline which stops at a strong position in the frame, and gives way to the natural cleft in the rocks; such curiosity, what is beyond?
The light looks strong but your filter has done a fine job. Lovely textural details.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Chris, nice photo here, good idea to include the humans for us to figur out the scale of this cliffs. A bit oversharpened imo but still great. Good contrast also.

Hi, Chris,
Saturation is great, good result of a polarized filter using. This place reminds me Jordan landscape, when I went to Petra. And the stone has similar pink colour. Perfect sharpness.

Hi Chris,
The presence of the people has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the Walpa Gorge. The quality of the light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Chris,
wonderful sense of depth in this photo using a great point of view and the length of the left side of the gorge. Excellent composition, the walkers following the path from around the curve add a sense of scale and movement that makes a big difference in this massive and solid environment. I like very much the colours and the textures. Light management is splendid, we can easily observe the textures on the shady part. A fascinating photo, well done!
All the best, have a good week,

Hi Chris, How could you forget about such shots?? Impressive landscapel The red rocks remind me the parks in Utah or Wadi Rum desert in Jordan. I didn't know there are also in Australia. And what is your own country?

Hello Chris,
When I viewed this the first thing that came to mind was Utah as you suggest. I like the deep red colour of the massive rocks Aand the textures that you have caught. The three people (one conveniently in red!) cerainly gives a sense of scale and very nicely positioned in the frame. Excellent shot.

Hello Chris,
l'Australie est un pays où on retrouve des formations montagneuse rouges intenses. Cette gorge par exemple est superbe par l'opposition des teintes rouges et bleues.
Une photo bien retravaillée en post processing.
My best regards.
Daniel.

Hi Chris,
Very nice shot, in so many ways it does really resembles the Utahs and Arizona landscape in the U.S. It is really good quality for a scan. Good clarity and sharpness, almost too sharp :) Great us of the path leading in and the presence of the people allow a sense of scale and perspective. The filter sky is absolutely wonderful.

Red soil is most usually evident of minerals residue's underground, and we know Central Australia has an abundance of mines around, Chris.
Anyay, to this photo, the CP-filter is evident on picture, and yet we can enjoy the beautiful scenery with big walls on sides, and scale wonderfully by the people on the trail.
Cherrs and a nice weekend,
Ike
