Photographer's Note

On the Northwest coast of New Zealand's south island, you'll find the small village of Punakaiki, known for its Pancake Rock formations. This particular view is along the beach that fronted our hotel.

The 'pancake'-layering of the limestone was created by immense pressure on alternating hard and soft layers of marine creatures and plant sediments.
