Photographer's Note
A tourist's-eye-view of the Franz Joseph Glacier in the South Island of New Zealand.
Unique, apparently, in that it and its sister glacier, Fox, are the only glaciers to descend into rainforest. Both are almost at sea-level.
Metering was very tricky here - I exposed to the sunlit snow at the upper reaches of the glacier, and needed some work in PP to lighten the darker areas.
Keen eyes may be able to spot the climbers descending the face of the glacier, just above the sloping rock bottom-right.
Feedback welcomed, my apologies for not spending much time at TE these days.

It always a challenge to meter in snow condition. But you had done a great job and thanks for the details of your metering.
Cheers

Hello Rew,
That's an excellent and unique shot.
You forgot in your note to point out that the two glaciers are the only glaciers in the 'world' to descend into rainforest.
It might be a tourist's point of view, but it's a good one. I really like the colour of the ice. It looks like marble stone.
Thanks for sharing.

Hallo Rew!
What an overwhelming view, emphasized by including the greenery in the foreground! You managed the difficult light here very well! A really most impressive picture and I fear a historic one soon ...
Greetings from Germany!

I walked to the front of this glacier on a very rainy and cold afternoon. The walk was the only alternative when at 11:30 am the pilots cancelled the chopper flight to the top due to the approaching bad weather. Even if it was not what I expected to do and to see at Franz Joseph, it was worthwhile. When flight was cancelled, the weather outside was sunny and quite warm. One hour later, it was simply miserable. Where were you to get such a nice view of the glacier? It is a very nice picture. Well done.

Hi Rew. Long time no see. Nice capture. Difficult light, but you have managed ok. The bright section of glacier draws the eye initially but then the eye is drawn down over the rest of the glacier revealing the textures and then colours of the foreground. Classic composition with good diagonals of the slope. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Rew
This is what I find amazing about New Zealand, the subtropical vegetation around the glaciers and the fact they are so close to the sea. The texture of the glacier is so interesting added to the different colours.

Hi Rew. Good overview of the base of this large glacier. Good use of available light. The patch of blue sky adds a lot to this one. Very well prepared and presented. TFS. Murray.
