Heavy industrial pollution? This could be your first impression when you see an unbelievable scenery like that on the photo. But this time it's all natural: the strong red colour of the Laguna Colorada is due to the high concentration of micro-organisms in the water. The icy wind of the Bolivian altiplano is a key factor of the tint: in its absence the still water surface reflects "only" the blue sky. So it was one of the rare occasions when I did not mind to freeze...
