Photographer's Note

The main church of Nossa Senhora da Concei誽o is not exactly a pretty church, despite the colonial style. The interior of the church is very interesting. All of it needs restoration. There is news of its construction from 1776 onwards, being completed at the end of the 18th century, in the time of the magistrate Domingos Manuel Marques Soares. It received several renovations during the 19th century, the most important being from 1872 to 1877.

Da sua constru誽o se tem not獳ias a partir de 1776, sendo terminada em fins do s嶰ulo XVIII, no tempo do ouvidor Domingos Manuel Marques Soares. Recebeu v嫫ias reformas durante o s嶰ulo XIX, sendo a mais importante datada de 1872 a 1877.

The illuminated fa蓷de makes a strong impression in the blue hour. The white wall has an attractively warm tone thanks to your good exposure.

Hello Ricardo,
Since especially the lower part of the church facade is illuminated and clearly more than the towers, I suspect that the light does not come from the rising or setting sun but from artificial lighting.
On the right in the picture we also see a spotlight.
That doesn't make the photo any less beautiful. The colonial church may need a facade restoration, but it is beautifully presented against the blue sky in the background.

A great shot of this church, I really like its warm illuminated and the way it rises up from the dark stone in the foreground. Also the blue night sky adds a great contrast.

Hello Ricardo,

The lady mounting the steps was very well included, scaling the church as well as acting as a guide towards the building.
I like the building, illuminated (I suspect artificially) makes it stand out very clearly against the blue hour sky.
The church does have a face; can you see it?

Hi Ricardo,
Lovely church and captured at my favourite blue hour. When I looked at it on my screen it looks not sharp but for curiosity I opened the photo in a new tab and it is very sharp then. This is something what we noticed before that some web browsers decrease sharpness when decreasing the size of photos. That is why I always upload just small photos.
