Photographer's Note

I like to take close up pictures of animals, the bigger the better. In this sense is possible to see the details of the skin, and its roughness without really jeopardising yourself.
Of course you need a good telephoto lens!
This is a hipo, which is currently in Jardin Botanico zoo in Asuncion Paraguay, please take a look at the details! (safely!)
Only sharpen and contrast adjustment, nothing else.

I agree, there's nothing more fun than doing animal closeups, besides looking at them. This is a great one, you have made great use of your zoom here. Also I really like the compo with the eye staright in the middle, but everything around it makes it look like an offcenter compo. Good work.

The English have a saying : Its just the tip of the iceberg. Here, in SA, we say it is only the ears of the hippo. Now you know kust how big all that blubber is! very nice deatil, looked like you used flash, I would tone down a bit in Hue/saturation to get rid of some of the flair, but that is a minor nit.

Hola C廥ar, Wow, esto es Impresionante, los detalles de su piel y la humedad, son excelentes, parece que tu tomaste la foto a 1 cm de el, el manejo del zoom que tienes en esta imagen, es super, yo he visto hipopotamos aqu� en Tabasco pero sinceramente con la c嫥ara que yo tengo intentar un acercamiento, esto implica tener que meterme al agua y eso si que es algo que yo no me atrevo a hacerlo, porque el agua es muy turbia y no se que cosas pueda encontrarme ah� :s . He visto tus fotos de animales, mejor debo decir: tus retratos, son excelentes, este es un super, es interesante apreciar estos detalles del hipopotamo ya que considero que a veces uno olvida percibir estos detalles perdiendose en la magnitud de su cuerpo al observarlo. Wonderful shot, a nice addition to my zoo animals theme. I like the very close view, and the starnge, prehistoric image of this amazing animal. I like the eye, which looks sleepy and bored.
