Statue of Jos� Artigas, considered a national hero in Uruguay. Located in Plaza Independencia, in the Old Town. Below the giant statue are his asshes.

I always enjoy seeing photos from Uruguay, we dont' see them often on TE, not when compared to Italy, France etc...
good composition to place the statue in the middle of the buildings, and i like the w buildings also - they're very different but very attractive and should be appreciated as well. cheers

The most famous statue in Montevideo, as I remember it from back in time when learnt geography in school, Fabiano.
The modern buildings behind stand fine contrast.

Hello Fabiano,

I am not good in the history of South America and I haven't heard about Jose Artigas. When his ashes are there so this is a kind of the grave. Impressive monument. Nice building on the left side, on the right side rather ugly.

O lugar que est� abaixo da est嫢ua � mesmo muito interessante! Quando estava l� estava acontecendo a troca de guarda, que deixou o lugar com mais um atrativo. A foto ficou muito boa, a luz e o ponto de vista s緌 excelentes.

meu velho hotel, na primeira vez que visitei a cidade, ficava atr嫳 desse edif獳io da direita. muito bom esse 滱gulo com o monumento ao centro e os edif獳ios nas laterais.
