Photographer's Note
To take this shot, I was standing under an Araguaney, Venezuela's national tree, and facing thenorth eastern side of it. In the background, you can see the sky and the Avila, the mountain range separating Caracas from the Venezuelan shore and protecting the city from tropical storms. The Araguaney, typically looses all its leaves when the characteristic yellow flowers appear. When I took the shot, there was only one Araguaney with flowers; today, when I walked by, there were about 5 of them. If you visit Venezuela around carnival, you will be able to see these beautiful trees sourrounded by the yellow flowers that have already fallen down.
I increased sharpness and contrast and had to resize several times to meet the memory requirements of TE; hence it's small size.
"Tabebuia chrysantha (Araguaney or Yellow Ipê), known as cañaguate in northern Colombia[1], as tajibo in Bolivia, and as ipê-amarelo in Brazil, is a native tree of the intertropical broadleaf deciduous forests of South America above the Tropic of Capricorn. On May 29, 1948, Tabebuia chrysantha was declared National Tree of Venezuela since being an emblematic native species of extraordinary beauty. Its deep yellow resembles the one in Venezuelan flag. Along with almost another 100 species it composes the genus Tabebuia.
Chrysantha is derived from two Greek words and means "golden flower". Araguaney appears to derive from "aravenei", the ancient word by which Caribes designated this tree."

hi Yvonne,
The golds and the really wonderful point of view make it a striking tree image .. with more dimension than one would think possible be so close .. the golds are beautiful I wish they were contrasted against a darker sky .. very nice image.
take care,
John

I like the way you have composed the image with the big branch leading into the frame. You also exposed it well with the light showing through the flowers and no over-exposure on the sky.
It is always a problem with file size with lots of tiny detail. Sometimes you end up using very high compression. This seems to have turned out well.
Good work

Yvone,
Such an interesting composition of the this araguaney with beautiful yellow blossomes. I like the soft BG of the sky and clouds that complement the tree and flower nicely. Very useful infomation on your note too. Thanks so much.

Hi Yvonne! This is a lovely photo of an interestingly shaped tree. It weaves its way through the frame nicely, speckled by yellow flowers.
Well seen and captured...

Emilius
