Sorrento shades, a photo from Naples, Campania

Photographer's Note

Marina Grande at Sorrento near Naples. This is the working harbour of Sorrento, and it is a bit less touristy and more gritty than much of Sorrento. The pastel shades of the buildings were glowing in the late afternoon sun, just asking to be photographed. One of Sorrento's many interesting places.

I adjusted the levels slightly in Photoshop, but the image is pretty close to reality.

Your composition is great using the dock to lead the eye into the scene. The colorful buildings are great creating contrast throughout the scene. The lighting is great and the photo has excellent sharpness.

A fine composition with the jetty providing a lead in to the shot. I like how the facade of the buildings are caught in the sunlight. Excellent shot.

this really is a lovely shot. I particularly like how the lines of the dock lead in and the warm light catches those pastel colored buildings. Beautiful color and clarity, perfect sharpness and detail and I love all the great lines and angles. I loved Sorrento and you have captured it ever so nicely. Many thanks and kindest wishes,

Hi Vince, yes, the image is extremely natural-looking. I have been here many times - Dad was born not far from here - and feel quite homesick again :) Good spotting, the light bouncing off the buildings is superb. Your DOF is excellent and I like the fella sitting down to the left of the frame. Nice work, TFS, Lisa.
