Old Farm in The Hills, a photo from Sor-Trondelag, South

Photographer's Note

This summer I had the opportunity to photograph quite a few farms located a bit off the beaten track, and I will present the images now and then during the upcoming autumn.

I will create a theme consisting of images of farms and farmland in central Norway. The most picturesque of the farms can often be found in remote valleys and mountain landscapes, and I will focus on these in the photographs...

The farm we see here is owned by a retired university professor who used some of his academic carrier studying the people of the Himalayas so I guess he feels at home in this steep mountain landscape!

This is a nice shot of this old farm. The road leads the eye into the shot nicely. The tree in the foreground helps frame the shot as well as adding depth. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness.

I liked the framing of the photo, with the tunnel formed by the two houses. The fund offers a nice DOF and flowers in red backlighting were great.

Hi Pablo,

The point of view is sending my eyes toward the mountains which is giving depth to the composition. It is also showing the details and colors of the farm buildings. The late morning light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

There are indeed no ugly parts in the Norwegian landscape, in fact, most places are more beautiful than necessary;) This is a fine example of the Norwegian countryside, and the WS also shows a good example of Norewegian architecture.

Hello Pablo,

this photo shows all your compositive mastery. As often with you, you selected a very interesting and expressive scene out of a larger environment and framed it so to have a kind of harmony of lights/shadows and of shapes. The farm and the barn at right seems to frame the distant hills and make them appear even more distant and our eyes are forced to focus on those pretty red flowers which reverberate with light. The two buildings match one another while the flowers are matched by the lovely tree at left. A nice summer and rural atmosphere.

I like this framing with the close-up of the old wooden farm in the hills, with the hollow between both houses in its center for to show us the wonderful landscape in background.
The vivid colors of the plants, of the tree and of the flowers in foreground is a great aesthetic complement.
The light and the shades are very well managed in the composition.
The WS photo is beautiful, too. I like the living roof on the main building.
