Photographer's Note

El Capitan is perhaps the Earth's largest granite monolith? It dominates the west end of Yosemite Valley. It is one of the most famous cliffs for climbers to aspire to reach the top.

El Cap has its own Horsetail waterfall in spring if sufficient snow remains on top to melt. It is located around the west end of this view, and out of sight, but it was active.
