Pin Light, a photo from Auckland, North Island

Photographer's Note

Cold, foggy, misty morning blocks the sun as much as it can at Western Springs Park in central Auckland. The lake was like a geothermal pool, with steam rising, the only thing keeping me company is the weeping willow and the Pukeko bird.

hi jim,
you have captured the scene very well in the difficult light conditions. the mist has helped create a wonderful atmosphere, quite mysterious. the tree is placed perfectly to the side to hold the scene together and create some depth. lovely colours.

Love how the water & sky melts & merges in the horizon. The mist creates a dreamy impression with the sun almost as a pin head. The weeping willow tree on the right is a great subject. Fine moody shot!

This is just extraordinary. The mist makes this photo like something out of a dream sequence. I love the effect it's had on the weeping willow and the pinkish/silver light on the water is amazing. The tranquillity of the image is obvious. You talk about invading Oz! With light and atmosphere like this, I'll be over on the next plane. Although to be sure I'd stuff it up. Just superb. Congratulations and also congrats on getting published, you really deserve it.

Lovely foggy seen and my favorite species of tree: the weeping willow. You have captured this perfectly with only a speck of sunlight shining through.
