Photographer's Note

""Gosausee dreams in shadow beneath the glittering Dachstein"",the text together with a superbe photo I saw in an article about Austria in National Geographic of august 1960.
My first thoughts were,I got to go there one time,and I was very lucky there was an opportunity last july..
We stayed in a nearby village called Gosau,just 20 minutes drive from the lake,and I soon found out the sun was at its best point in late afternoon and beginning evening.
So every night we had dinner in the one and only,very cheap and friendly Gasthof Gosausee (hotel).
From our table the panorama on the lake and the 2995m snowy Dachstein was great.

In our appartment in Gosau there was a small picture of the lake on the wall with the text:
""Dieses bild hab ich fuhr mein liebling mitgebracht,und immer in dieser platz an dich gedacht....""
(I brought this picture for my love,I was always thinking about you when I was there...)

everything you mentioned in the note is perfect.
you figured our the best time of day for the light, you got the pefect seat to eat your dinner, and the words quoted end everything just the way it should.
what more could you want right?!
heck, even the large cloud formation is perfect! great photo, nature at its best.

Oostenrijk is echt een mooi land, fotografen kunnen zich daar uitleven.
Uw foto is mooi gemaakt tussen twee donkere kanten valt het licht mooi op de bergen.
Zelfs een beetje weerspiegeling doet de rest.
Heel mooi foto werk, bedankt.

A beautiful mountain scene indeed. The unclustered view over the Dachstein is impressive. Makes me to want to put on my hiking boots and go on for a nice hike.

What a huge sweep helped by good view point, I am really intrigued by the serene blue water, the sheen and the gentle ripples, framed by the majestic mountains on both sides. Everything works fine in this image, the rich colour tones, clarity and sense of depth, which is enhanced by the beautiful clouds as good focal as well. My nanna always said that Austria was one of the most beautiful countries she visited and from your photo, I can see she was right. The symmetry and reflections are marvellous and I love the natural colour and depth. The light is exquisite.

PS: Yes my Dad is Italian (from Naples) but my mum is Australian. I'm glad the photo of Italy brought back some childhood memories and I hope that things are getting easier after the sad news you've had earlier this year
