Photographer's Note
Robots are to be found everywhere – but where exactly? Well, at the Technisches Museum Wien for one! But what is it that makes a machine a genuine “being” and what does it take for us to regard a robot as “just” a machine? What sort of technology is behind “androids” and “cyborgs”? What role does science fiction play in robotics? And what do the automata of the Baroque period have in common with today’s humanoids? Explore the history, current trends and visions of robotics on more than 1,000 m2 of exhibition space. And discover some quite unique exhibits, with futuristic tin men, toy robots, vintage automata and giant industrial robots all gathered together in one place...

You raise some interesting questions about robots in your note indeed. I think in this example here it is the childish face of the robot that makes it so appealing to us. The contrast of the sharp robot and the passing girl works really well here.
have a great day
Daniel
