Photographer's Note

Place de l'Ancienne Douane in Colmar old-town, on the map: 48.0759, 7.3595 (One of the old buildings in this square was the old Custom-house).
The statue of Lazare de Schwendi, a 16th century chiff of the Napoleon army who according to local legend brought the famous "Alsace tokay pinot gris" specie from Hungary. (source Wikipedia).

Hello Ike,
I like the point of view, which is not usually one we see from Colmar. The statue makes a fine focal point and looks as if he is pointing toward the buildings in the background. The light was not of the best, but you have successfully brought out the colours and detail.

Hello Ike,

The typical houses with timbered fa蓷des are the houses of Colmar.
The flowers in foreground and statue are certainly a nice addition.
Your picture of these city hall are very nice to look at.
Excellent composition with a lovely panorama view about the city.

Hi Ike,

The fountain is helping to frame the scene. The distance between the fence and the buildings is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and the colors of the buildings. The cloudy sky does not hurt the output of the colors. Have a nice day.

Bel endroit de Colmar, je suis pass嶪 l� en 2007 et 2008, je vois que rien a changer , le charme y est toujours bien pr廥ent, belle vue sur la fontaine, les terrasses et bien sur les b漮iments en colombages, quelques couleurs 嶲aye cette journ嶪 un peu triste du ciel :-)

Colmar seems to be an interesting as well as a beautiful city. All these half-timbered houses provide a very pleasant atmosphere to the cityscape.

You're capturing well this town by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the small town with the peculiar design in medieval times, the small square with the statue/fountain/flower. It looks like a peaceful/classical town.

Hi Ike,

Did you send out a memo for locals and tourists to clear the area specifically for a photo shoot...where are the people? :) Even without a hint of human presence, there's still plenty to take in from the scenic side of this town and still understand the atmosphere that exists. Maybe not the clearest of weather, but it can't dissuade a visit to see why this is such a popular destination...especially when we get to see it layed out in this type of arrangement. No sun, but no lack of color! Enjoy the new week ahead. All the best.

Hi Ike,

I like the diffused light and the subtle warm cold color contrast between the grey blue asphalt and the red roof of the Alsatian restaurant. And I know they don't serve dog in there ;-) You would have to go to Korea and look long and hard to find a back street restaurant with a canine menu, apparently for stamina,, although I never tried or saw ant need to try it. The glimpse of water bottom left adds interest. Tfs!

Hello Ike,

A nice place/town. The houses look a little
bit Germans. Picture has a good light management
and composition. The diagonal lines of the fence
on the forground creates an extra depth.

Hello Ike,

I never managed to see Colmar, which was obviously somewhere I would have really enjoyed, by looking at your photographs!
You have shown the fine details of these old, timber framed houses, so much part of the character of the town. Those pretty flower displays sure nicely included. Again, evidence of the pride that French people have in their towns.
You have achieved really sharp details and good, natural colours.
