Castello di Roselli Spoleto (PG)

The place where Roselli stands has been inhabited for a very long time, a few hundred meters upstream of this church there is a vast cemetery area where some very ancient tombs were found. A Roman tombstone with an inscription, unfortunately no longer decipherable, is used as a step of the access door to the Church of San Biagio, located inside the town, near the castle door.
Roselli, although clearly an old castle, does not appear, at least with this name, in the lists of castles of the Arnolfe lands and does not appear in those of the Municipality of Spoleto, of which it certainly belongs since remote times, such as the nearby Terzo San Severo .
Some parts of the walls, a door and the tower with the sail bell tower of the church of San Biagio remain of the original structure.
A fragment with the monogram of San Bernardino and an inscription of difficult interpretation is walled in a sixteenth-century building.
In a newsstand, recently protected by a metal gate, located on the wall of a private home, there is a depiction of the Madonna of the milk. The fresco is in a bad state: the lower half of the painting and the internal walls of the niche have been covered with an incongruous blue tint, the surface seems to have been abraded. In another newsstand located on the wall of a building there is a Madonna and Child, named by the inhabitants of the place Madonna degli fool. The fresco, dating from the sixteenth century, in a very bad state of conservation, is close to the ways of Spain.
Just outside the town, on a plateau, there is the Church of San Bartolomeo.
