Photographer's Note

In all mountains supplies of mountain refuges is made by land rover every time the approach allows it, and for more remote places, often by helicopter or cable systems.

For many reasons, a custom has remained in the Slovak Tatras: men-supplying of the mountain huts ("nosič" in Slovak).

The 𩩍rpa (slovak word for sherpa), is using a specific wooden rucksack, a strange thing which looks a bit like a high chair carried upside-down. It is made of a little platform on which we empile all sort of things: gaz cans, packs of mineral water, beer kegs, bags of potatoes. The whole is kept into vertical position by various means such as straps and ropes.

The Sherpas carry around 50-60 kgs at once. It is frequent to see the sherpa accompanied by other persons securing him, ahead or behind, to prevent from any bad step, because falling with such a load can be really dangerous.

There are many huts in the Slovak mountains where this way of transporting goods is used. Some of them have a stronger tradition than others.
The huts of the Tatras whose 𩩍rpa tradition are the most famous are : Chata pod Rysmi (2250m) , T廨yho Chata ( 2015m ), Chata Solisko (1840m), Skalnat� chata (1751m), Zamkovsk嶭o Chata, 1475m ("Zamka"), Zbojn獳ka chata ( 1960m).

Piotr, an instructive picture that presents the hard work of these men carrying heavy loads to refuges in the Slovak mountains. Their role is essential as they supply vital goods in altitude. His package is well arranged. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Czesc Piotrze, Istotnie, Jakos trzeba przetrasportować towary do wysoko polozonych schronisk, jak u nas w Dolinie Pieciu Staw闚 czy w Slowackich Tatrach. Nigdy nie spotkałam takich sherp闚. Ciekawe zdjecie.

Porters, Piotr, Sherpa is an oriental word used in Nepal and India.

Amazing view of the sherpa carrying this incredibly bulky and heavy load. He won't have much time to admire the beautiful scenery, but he has seen it before. As usual it's a well exposed photo, this time also with an unusual view.

Sherpas are extraordinarily peoples, without these comes almost nobody on the peak of the mountain.
We get also wonderful depth and perspective panorama.

from this pov we can have an idea how high the place is. curious the luggage of the man, maybe not so heavy, but big.anyway, even with nothing, it was a big effort to climb this slope.

a wiec nie tylko piekny krajobraz ale rowniez ciekawa historia zilustrowana kolorowym "nosicielem".
Ja na pewno zdziwilbym sie niezmiernie zobaczywszy taka konstrukcje w gorach.

This is really unbelievable, the pack is so big, and as written in your note it could be also very heavy. And it's taken in situation during a small halt before going on to reach the hut in the mountains.
